Our Sunday worship celebration begins at 10:30 a.m. (10 a.m. in the summer) and all are warmly welcome! Children and youth attend the first twenty minutes of worship. They serve as acolytes and often lead us in our Call to Worship. Following a children’s sermon with Pastor Jeff, they go to Sunday School classes. During our worship service there is opportunity for the sharing of joys and concerns for prayer. Our worship is enhanced by the music of our adult choir and bell choir, as well as our children’s bell choir. Lyrics and images are projected. Every other month students from the Allegro Academy of Music bless us by performing throughout our worship.
On the first Sunday of each month the sacrament of Holy Communion is freely offered to anyone worshipping with us.
Worship is followed by Coffee Hour, an opportunity for friendship and refreshment in out fellowship hall.
If you are looking for a church to have your baby baptized, there is nothing we would rather do!!! HOWEVER, in the United Methodist Church the entire congregation participates in the sacrament of holy baptism. It occurs in our primary worship service, and in the course of the liturgy everyone present answers the following question: “Will you nurture one another in the Christian faith and life and include this child and his or her parents in your care?” The whole congregation is invited to respond: “With God’s help we will proclaim the good news and live according to the example of Christ.
We will surround you and your child with a community of love and forgiveness, that they may grow in their service to others. We will pray for them, that they may be true disciples who walk in the way that leads to life.”
The Christian life is not a solo affair. It is lived out intentionally with others. As your child grows, and as you embrace the holy calling of parenting, a community of faith to support you will be truly invaluable.
So before we talk about scheduling a baptism, start coming to worship regularly. We think you will be struck by the invisible presence of Jesus and moved by the love of our community and the blessing children receive from growing up surrounded by it. If you decide you want to be a part of the circle of God’s love that is found here and raise your child among us, we trust you will be able to answer with a clear conscience the question Pastor Jeff will ask you in the course of the baptismal liturgy:
“Will you nurture your child whom we are about to baptize in Christ’s holy church, that by your teaching and example she or may be guided to accept God’s grace for herself or himself, to profess their faith openly, and to lead a Christian life?”
