Lenten Reading for March 8

Following a conversation with his disciples about people whose life had been cut short with sudden, unexpected death, Jesus told a little parable about a fig tree that wasn’t producing any figs. The owner wants to cut it down, but the gardener holds out the hope that given another year, it will yet bear fruit. (Luke 13:1-8)

Why did God give us life on this earth? To bear fruit. What kind of fruit? The Apostle Paul offers a list of the fruit of the Spirit: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.” (Galatians 5:22)

How are we doing in terms of giving expression to the fruit of the Spirit in our lives?
